Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day from Burgundy Buttons!  Celebrate with BB today only by saving 10% with promotion code "green" at BurgundyButtons.com.*

Have you been following Jaybird's Hexagon Quilt Along?  Have you been wanting that AWESOME 60 Degree Double Strip Rule by Creative Grids but been a bit fearful of the price?

LET ME HELP!

Commit to me, and all your fellow BB readers; just 1 way that you plan to be green in the next year. Leave a comment and tell us what it is. On Saturday, 1 winner will be selected from the comments to win the wonderfully simple ruler.

Don't forget to share the Burgundy Love by sending a link to this blog to a friend!

And just a bit of a side note- thank you everyone who emailed me wondering if I was OK (I could not believe that I received SEVERAL emails) due to my LACK of posting. I am still in shock that people noticed! Indeed that last 2 weeks have been a bit crazy for me at work. (the Corporate America job work- not BB). We have our annual Sarbanes Oxley Audit with Ernst & Young and my position is very responsible for ensuring we pass that audit with flying colors. (and of CORSE we will!).

My prep work for the audit is done and I have completed my first round of E&Y interviews.  So, I will be on my normal blogging schedule for now on! Thank you EVERYONE for checking!

*promotion not valid on previously purchased items, special order items, Scentsy items or items as described in their description.  Only one promotion code valid during check out.

  1. I will try my very best not buy bottled water! It is so convenient, and so bad!! I like tap water just fine, so - resusable bottles and tap water for me : )

  2. We are switching lightbulbs around our house. Each one makes a difference! I also want to be much better at taking my own bags to the grocery store. I've got some and I just need to be better about bringing them along.

  3. I am committed to saving my recycleables that don't qualify for curbside pickup, and taking them to the recycling center!

I think its unfortunate that more cities don't do single stream recycling, but just because its not easy, doesn't mean its not worth it!

  4. Awesome- I sell market bags at Burgundy Buttons- and I USE THEM!! I always get lots of nice comments about them as well. Many grocery stores actually give you credit on your purchase by bringing your own bags! I gave up bottled water as well- and learned that "yes- tap water is just fine!", I do need to take my items to the recycle place- that's something I am very bad at since my local trash service doesn't do it. I commit!

  6. one thing I am going to do is use what I have. Make shopping bags to take with me to the store, with the plastic bags that I have now, cut them up crochet them and use them to go shopping with. Just reuse and recycle

I want that ruler! I have been looking for it!!:D

  10. I have decided to be deligent about using reusable shopping bags. Not only do I have a great selection for myself......whenever I need to wrap a present I use a reusable shopping bag as the gift bag. Just put a bow on it and people love them. I have also changed every lightbulb in my house to a bulb that is more energy efficient. I haven't had to change any of the bulbs in a year so I have no complaints.
    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  11. I'm going to commit to no styrofoam. I'm most guilty of buying a quick dinner of chicken wings that come in styrofoam. I'll have to take a container for them next time. Wonder how that will go over. Well gotta start somewhere right.

  12. I'm pretty green (recycling and composting), but there's always something that I can do that's new. Now that I think about it, I have been remiss in tossing out the plastic fork that I use to eat the salad that I take for lunch in my plastic washable container. I'll keep using a plastic fork, but I'll wash it and use it again.

  13. I've been trying to use a reusable bottle to drink my water out of. No more disposable bottles for me!

  14. I do so many earth friendly things already: cloth market bags, reuse/recycle plastic bags, recycle plastic/cans/cardboard/glass--this list goes on. BUT I am so guilty of ordering food-to-go from places that use styrofoam! Commitment: cook more meals at home and/or only buy from places that use paper wraps.

  15. I have started to use glass food storage containers instead of plastic wrap and ziplock bags.
Thanks for the chance to win the ruler-I have been wanting to make a hexagon quilt!
